Finance Testimonies!!

want to hear a cool testimony on finances?

So i basically came to Europe by finding a one way ticket for $189 from Florida to Scotland. I then have been going from place to place staying with friends and finding cheap flights as I go.
I didn't know anyone in Greece and through friends found this organization called Streetlights. they took me in and fed me.. haha.. all with the most amazing hospitable hearts. I stayed there a week.. painted their walls.. played cards with Syrian boys and met amazing people.
For some odd reason I love going to a place not knowing anyone and making the most amazing connections and relationships with the beautiful people living there.
Two days ago I didn't know where I would find myself sleeping and didn't have any money. I knew I should stay at the hostel for one more night. One of the girls staying at the hostel with me was asking about my artwork and wanted me to make her a piece.. and she gave me cash for it. This was extremely significant because I didn't have money. It was so simple and yet I clearly saw God's hand on it.
I have now found myself staying with a girl in Cyprus I met at church who just happened to have an extra room at her place for me to stay in. Its been amazing to fellowship with her and see where the Lord is taking us both as we talk, encourage and love on one another here.
I'm now at a place where I have one more week here and I am in need of $150 to get me through the week during my stay here. I hope to join the fellowship of believers in another neighboring town and make more connections in the Mediterranean. I want to see the Mediterranean know the one true God and to see His name glorified throughout the land.
If you would like to give, I would love to send you complimentary art work of your choice... or you can just give to give and I will send massive prayers and thanksgiving your way! Thanks so much and would love for you to partner with me in this continued adventure with God!
God Bless You!

post davids tent

Thanks for all those that came to my stall at Davids Tent! What an amazing year once again to experience the thick presence of Jesus! I will be updating photos of my art in a few days for those that wanted to purchase online so watch this space.

Can I just stop for a moment and process what God did in me at Davids Tent?

There was a moment in worship on Sunday night when Danny was playing and there was explosion of the expression of worship in the room. It felt like something cracked in that moment as everyone bursted with love.. and in that crack floodgates of worship i believe is going to be continually released. we all have a sound and its time to re-awaken it to come out of hiding.

I'm still in this place of God did so much in my heart that I am not sure what happened except the fact of going from glory to glory. I feel like a new person and I know there are still remnants of just heavy glory because I keep having people stop me in the streets to talk.. to make eye contact.. to ask me questions.. and that is just not normal in this city (the new normal). But there is no striving.. just natural flowing conversations and praying over people. its amazing.

still in this raw real place.. i think ill stay here for a bit. bless you guys. God is real.

The focus is seeing Europe set on fire for Jesus.

Something is happening here. There is a hunger amongst the body of believers in London and Amsterdam. How could I not be apart of what God is doing here in Europe? He is stirring the hearts of believers to see more come into the Kingdom and calling Heaven down on earth.

2015:

-this is the year of the Lord's favor- favor and blessings are coming and have already come
-discipline
-focus
-aggression-being aggressive to discipline, to be intentional, to see more come into the church today
-JOY

"Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for it is now that God favors what you do."
Ecclesiastes 9:7

"Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls."
1 Peter 1:8-9

everyday is a day for rejoicing! and celebrating. I leave in a few days for Amsterdam! Excited to serve in the area of raising awareness in Human Trafficking to around 45 students who will be joining the school. yes! These next 2 months i have expectations for God to change hearts to fall more in love with the God of the universe which moves us into action.. which flows from Kingdom mindsets.

from the red light district.. with love

"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."

Before I knew it another month flew by.. I look behind me and see God's grace and mercy following me in each situation where I worried and stressed.. I think "Wow, that situation looked so messy in the moment" and then I see God worked it all out perfectly... for me to learn from each challenge and encouraged by each victory.

Living and working in an intense city is quite the experience.. you share your life with the broken.. the burned out.. and the tired. I am in constant need of being filled up with the Spirit.. looking and seeing what my Father in Heaven is saying and doing first.. looking at every situation with the Father's eyes because He sees the finished product.  I dare say we will have troubles here on earth, that is promised. What is also promised is that if we share in His sufferings, we will share in His glory. It's great to know that everyday there is victory with the Lord. Which is crazy to some but blessed are those who do not see and yet still believe.

I am planning to staff the Shine Seminar "A seminar on the global sex trade and a Christian response" which will be in March in Amsterdam. I also plan to teach on God's destiny for individuals and calling them into it. I know that this will be a catalyst to take the message of modern day slavery to other nations where the church is wanting to know what they can do about it.. and challenging the church of what and how God wants them to be apart of it in all spheres of society.

Until then, I am planning to go home for the holidays as well as raise funds to return to Europe. I will be volunteering with my local church and doing some local outreach in San Diego with women who are in prostitution there as well. There is an amazing ministry called JC's girls with the Rock church and I hope to join them.

I'll be leaving on Wednesday for the UK ... for a couple weeks.. and then heading to the States!

If you would like to contribute towards my flight home, you can do so by clicking on the PayPal link. God bless you!

public declaration

All humans are searching for their purpose. I knew he was special. I went to find my seat at church and there he was sitting alone but with a big smile on his face. I greeted him and we were instant friends. It was his first time there. He was very new to the whole Christian thing. A bit hesitant. Not wanting to get too involved. I went away to Ukraine.. 3 months later I came back to find that he is happily involved in so many things at church. Yesterday he was baptized. With his face soaked with tears, friends and family gathered around him to pray after he came up out of the ocean.

So blessed to be apart of each person in this life's journey.

"But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom"

Weekly updates in Ukraine

these are my weekly email updates for my Lighthouse team back in Amsterdam from the past 5-6 weeks. i know some were curious as to what i have been doing, so i've decided to share them on my blog as well..enjoy!

Week 1-

what the Lords been speaking so far:

i have been in Kiev now for 5 days.  crazy.

when i came to the Ywam base i met a girl who is from the Israel Ihop prayer room. She was only here for one more day when i met her, but i was really curious to get to know her because i could tell she was very sensitive to the Holy Spirit's leading. We both wanted to go to independence square (Maidan square) She had been a few times but i hadn't been at all. Maidan Square was where they had riots back in February and over 100 people died. Ukrainians have been camped out in the square since the Pro-Russian president rejected a European association agreement back in November 2013 and instead chose to pursue a Russian bailout and closer ties with Russia which obviously led to protests from the Ukrainian people. most of Western Ukraine is pro-europe and most of eastern Europe is pro Russia or so they say?

why do i say all of this? good question. the biggest question i should always ask myself is if i am praying for a nation, how do i pray for it if i know nothing about it?

ok, back to my story with Esther (ihop girl from Israel) .. i hadn't told her anything about what i did yet, when she started sharing with me about this city called Odessa, one of the largest human trafficking cities in Eastern Europe that is in the southeast of Ukraine. she said she wanted to go there, but it never worked out for her to go and she didn't know why God put it on her heart so strongly if she wasn't able to go.. and i told her.. well, maybe you were supposed to tell me and pass the baton.. the rest of the day God confirmed that. i shared with her about the lighthouse and what we do etc. We were on our way back through Maidan square when we saw an old lady selling books.. Esther stopped and pointed at this one book that said "lighthouses of Ukraine" on it.. i jokingly said "maybe there is a lighthouse in Odessa" it was all in Ukrainian so we couldn't read any of it but she flipped a page and below a picture of a lighthouse it said Odessa... we were like noo wayyyy.. i saw the word Odessa a few times during that day as well popping up in random places. Later that day she gave me olive oil from the town of David in Israel for the purpose of anointing this city, Odessa with it.

praying and seeking the Lord on potentially going there in the next month.

yesterday i went with a team and played games with some of the orphan teens.. and also taught English to 8 ladies.. that was so much fun!!! wow.. i love teaching.. it was amazing and wish they did it twice a week instead of once.. these ladies were so hungry to learn but we teach them English in a bible study format.. so basically we read scripture to them (them not being Christians) and ask them questions about the Bible story and share about our own lives.. the story yesterday was the Prodigal Son. they were hungry to learn English but also hungry to learn about God obviously. :)

so yes, that has been a bit of my week. God is speaking and it is a good season for me to rest in Him and pray for this country.

Week 2-

i had a meeting with the girls of A21 Kiev on Monday and had some contacts and connections with them. some leads of possibilities but no point in sharing yet if they don't go anywhere.. but will let you know if some of them do.

i have been really enjoying teaching english to the adults and know it is an encouragement for them to come every week. you can tell that they love it.

the Human trafficking seminar in Moldova was cancelled. however, i am still looking at checking Moldova and Bulgaria and Odessa city out.

a few articles i found on men that go to Odessa to find love from Western nations-

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/marriage-ukrainianstyle-hopeful-bachelors-from-all-over-the-world-head-to-odessa-in-search-of-a-wife-8701428.html

Week 3-

i went to an orphanage that 2 american ladies run... for 3 hours i tutored the kids one at a time in English. their ages ranged from 7-17.. it was actually quite easy. i am beginning to realize the kids don't get a lot of encouragement from teachers or one another for that matter.. so when encouraging them in their learning.. their entire demeanor changes. i so enjoyed the children. such precious kids. i hope to return in the following weeks.

i think Easter weekend was my most challenging time since being here. i think because it was just me and the Lord. everyone on base went either home or someones home to celebrate. i was a bit sad and it forced me to trust in God in all areas of my life.. even holidays and celebrate with Him in what He did on the cross. How blessed am i to spend time with Jesus with no distractions for an entire weekend to sit at His feet? it was uncomfortable i think because of what we have been raised to think what a holiday looks like.. and what am i really focusing on and putting my energy in when these different seasons come up.. it all comes back to who we are really celebrating.. and when everything is stripped away what is left? is Jesus enough? when that moment comes, you realize what you have had as your idols all these years.. and when its you and Jesus.. you now see those "idols" are just blessings.. and to never let those blessings distract you from the real reason we celebrate..

anyways. sorry was getting some revelation as i wrote!

the amsterdam outreach team is coming tomorrow and i will be joining them for some of the ministry they will be involved in here with the orphanages and english class.. prayer and intercession.

I am getting more of a heart for Ukraine// specifically to pray into peace between the nations as Russia wants to take over more land. praying for Putin (thanks Marleen for that word :) she got a picture of Putin and I standing next to each other)

lots of books on giving and funding ministries..seriously learning some incredible gems of what the Bible says about giving, receiving and stewarding.. just when you think you know it all.. you get a big ole slice of humble pie.. LOVING the learning.

i have another lead on going to Odessa- a human trafficking ring city.. might be going at the end of May with one of the girls who volunteers with A21.

might be going to Moldova but am still emailing contacts to see if that would be a possibility.. but if God wants me to stay here in Ukraine for the month.. i am ok with that and excited for what He has in store if that is the case.

-----
i am beginning to realize a big part of why i am here is to teach a nation to pray.. to teach God's followers how to seek the Lord as they are on burn out mode and have all the energy sucked out of them.

i was talking to one of the girls here of what our ministry does and i told her that i told Elisabeth before i joined the LH team that there is no point in me joining the LH if 50% of my time isn't in the place of prayer on behalf of the women we reach out to and seeking the Lord for intimacy. i told this girl here in Ukraine that our team spends half of our team in the place of prayer. that to survive in a ministry that is on the frontlines (in our case prostitution, in her case orphans) you need to be in the place of prayer..

a few days later she came up to me and asked me if i can teach her how to pray!  we have been meeting every morning for an hour and we pray! omg .. it has been so amazing and she has opened up so much.. like weights and burdens are lifting off of her shoulders ... TEACH A NATION TO PRAY,CHANGE THE WORLD that has been my theme this week..she wants to continue praying in the mornings.. i have been learning that stepping out in faith is one of the most rewarding things..

ok.. that was long. love you guys.. and if you have time write me and tell me how you are.. i enjoy hearing what God is doing..

Week 4-

the team is here so its been really good to have them and they have the same heart of prayer and worship and rejoicing before the Lord and Monday worship with the ywam Kiev base and the amsterdam team leading out in worship i think has been healing for ywam Kiev as I haven't really seen a passionate unified worship time since being here so that was awesome!

It's been a bit of a more challenging week.

i think i told some of you that my Grandma had stage 4 cancer for the past 6 weeks. She died this week and not sure if she gave her life to the Lord. So have been praying and thinking of my family this week.

i have been doing more counseling and discipleship this week when things come up when people pray... like what we think of God... the most important thought you will have! so discipleship needed.

as far as Odessa goes, not sure if you heard in the news but there were riots last friday there and 50 people died. which has been the largest death toll regarding the Ukraine issue since euromaidan in feb where 100 died in Kiev.

still praying whether to go at the end of the month as i still have the opportunity to do so with one of the A21 girls and raise awareness on human trafficking in some schools down there.. as well as anoint the city in oil and pray for it of course.

hope you guys are doing well. :)

Week 5 & 6

Hi my lovely Lighthouse team :)

i have been joining the Holland team in ministry part time since they came.

dude. we had an intense prayer time as they asked me to lead them in an intercession time. there was repentance going down.. tears.. passion.. encouragement.. prophetic words spoken over one another.. all in 2 hours! it was amazing.. i believe it was because the holy spirit was unquenchable in that window of time.. fearing God.. being obedient to what He was speaking.. and all of Heaven broke loose. come on.

tensions are running high as the elections are coming up at the end of the month.. something to continue to pray for. justice.

i plan to visit a refugee camp that has families from Donetsk and Slovyansk.. one of the targeted areas for Pro-Russians infiltrating and bringing illegal voting to annex themselves from Ukraine. thus leaving families with no food and water and flying bullets .. forcing them to evacuate from their homes to refugee areas.

at the orphanage i visit every week, there are 20 kids that just arrived from foster families in Donetsk.. so we got to hang out and play with them this week which was lots of fun!

there has been crazy lightning storms that cut off my internet where i live.. so internet has been more limited this week. i have also been sick because the weather has been so drastic, it will be extremely humid one day and the next be rain and thunderstorms.. half the team is now sick .. other than that it has been great :)

the ywam base here, i think i mentioned, is on a lake and they have been doing baptisms so it has been so amazing to see the churches that come and the baptisms that take place here.. anointing it more and more with Holy Spirit.. come on.

bless you guys... am missing amsterdam obviously ;)

in the land of pink houses and purple roofs

It is true. what you hear in the news about Ukraine is a stark contrast when you actually live here. They like their pink Pebto Bismol coloured houses and purple roofs that you can plainly see in a forest painted with green trees. They are a people that "keep calm and carry on" and for this reason alone, i have wanted to learn more about why they aren't reacting to such great injustices taking place in their own land. Come to think of it, maybe that is all they have ever known...

Leading me to a slightly in-depth study on 'what the heck is really going on in Ukraine'... it gives me great joy to let you know that a few missing pieces in my mind have finally come together as i ask the people themselves to bring clarity to a confused foreigner.

If you want to understand what is going on in Ukraine, you need to take a step back and understand what is going on in Eastern Europe or as some call it, "the former Soviet Union"... and let me answer a few important questions one confused individual might ask themselves...

When did Ukraine become its own Independent country? 1991.

When countries become independent from another country, isn't there usually a fight/war that happens to officially say they are independent? usually, yes

Why wasn't there a war when Ukraine gained its independence? Because Russia still had control over many things in Ukraine, including money, government and politics or so they say.

Now that Ukrainians are wanting to cling more to the West and wanting to separate themselves from Russia and it's pro-Russian elected officials, is this upsetting Russia and its stronghold over the land? of course.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing that Ukraine separatists are taking over cities in Ukraine, and holding illegal referendums? perhaps a good thing. Ukrainians need to make up their mind. They need to ask themselves, are they pro Russian or are they pro Ukrainian? although that doesn't change the fact that the referendums themselves are illegal and corrupt and most likely forced by Pro-Russians in the area.

they are fighting for their nation... and in a way... it is a good thing.. the Ukrainians are saying no more to political corruption ruled by Russia and no to dictators or pay outs instead of bringing a case to trial. is that how the judicial system should work? whoever can pay the judge more money wins the case? Up till now that is all it's ever been and all the country has ever known.

In a way, all of this coming out is Ukrainians taking a stand against Big Brother Russia and saying NO MORE BULLYING. and those that are Pro-Russian, need to make a choice.. Ukraine or Russia.

Are there other countries that Russia still has its thumb on strongly? of course, look at Belarus. It won't surprise me in the upcoming years, if something happens there as well. People know injustice when they see it, and they reach a point to say enough is enough as well.

What is something you can pray into regarding this issue?

-For those directly affected in Eastern Ukraine.

-Those living in these regions that have been directly affected by their towns being dangerous to live in and have had to move to refugee camps.

-For Aid to come to these regions as roads have been blocked to go into them and water and food is limited.

-For those still living in these regions who sleep on the floors for fear of being shot in cross fire.

your prayers matter and change things! God is here in Ukraine and it is amazing to partner with Him in the midst of brokenness!

Partnering and Loving

are you looking for something to invest in monthly?
I am currently in a season of needing to receive more monthly donors since the government of the Netherlands has put stronger visa requirements on all non-Europeans. My ministry with women in sex trafficking and prostitution has been put on hold for the next 3 months because of this.
However, I am using my time out of the Schengen as an opportunity to see how our ministry in Western Europe can link with where the girls come from in eastern Europe. I am currently in eastern Europe (because of my visa i have to be out of the Schengen) and am working with orphan teenagers in Ukraine (where vulnerable girls can easily be trafficked from) and am also teaching English in Kiev (where the riots were a little under 2 months ago and over 100 people died) bringing Jesus in English class as we teach non-believers English through the Bible and bringing hope!
Proof in writing that I have sufficient resources is necessary for me to receive a work and resident permit. If you would like to be a donor, would you be willing to document your support by completing a pledge? I know that economic changes can change in the future, but your help now can make a significant difference in me being able to return to the Netherlands and continue doing ministry in the Red Light District.
if you are considering giving and wondering how..
-we can do automatic withdrawals
-we can do paypal
-we can do mailing checks
-we can do tax-deductible
send me an email at 1lizhuckaby@gmail.com and i will give you more info. to move this forward.
Thanks for reading and your prayers as i have some fabulous prayer warriors out there and am always seeing God's hand in the midst of it all!

life is lovely in the midst of mess.

every single day is full of opportunities. sometimes you just have to be present to see that opportunity pass in front of you. my opportunities the past 2 months working and ministering in the red light district have been endlessly easy. too easy. is it so hard to tell someone that is in a broken state that Jesus loves them? Perhaps the hardest part of telling them this, is that i find my own brokenness in the process. Every single day i am in need of my Savior. I am in need of revelation of who He is to me. I am needy! there. i said it. I am so needy and yet satisfied and content in His love. I am beginning to realize that He loves the fact that we need and want to spend time in His presence just because.. well.. it truly is the best place to be.

with saying that, I would like to follow it with saying that I LOVE MY TEAM!! when you work with teams and people from different cultures and upbringings.. you know.. stuff comes out. However, the maturity that comes from my team in walking in an unoffendable heart moves us to a deeper level of wanting to see the one found worthy and pointing all the work we are able to do back on Him. It's all from Him.. it's all for Him.. and we are all in love with Him. Basically the best team ever.

ok now saying all that, let me share a couple stories just from this week. Last Friday, we went out to the windows and myself and one of the girls that is no longer working in the windows (we shall call her Sarah and she got radically saved from prostitution last year) visited some of the prostitutes (we don't like to "label" them as prostitutes but just for clarity's sake).. after talking and visiting with 3 of the girls we came to one lady that knew Sarah well (because they had worked together in the windows years prior).  We told her you are beautiful, but your heart is also very beautiful. One thing to understand about our ministry, is sometimes it takes time to build relationship with them and sometimes it is right away. But we don't want to ruin relationship by telling them some fire and brimstone gospel every time we talk to them, so sometimes it looks messy.. in fact, most of the time it looks messy.. we just ask for the Holy Spirit to guide us in the words we say and that it will speak to their heart so we can continue to visit them every Friday night. After we told her her worth and beauty, we prayed with her.. held hands and prayed. There is nothing like bringing the presence of the Lord in a room, that is masked with darkness.. we bring in the light softly and it shines in us brightly! because we are in love with our Saviour and we hope they would see just a glimpse of that love.

That same night, one of the other teams came back from visiting some other windows and they shared with us that one of the prostitutes had made the decision to leave prostitution this week. We had only talked to her a few times! Such great news, it must be true.

We have come into a new wave of prostitutes in the windows, mostly because most of the girls we previously knew in the windows have moved on! Whether they have gone home or have started a new life away from prostitution, it is good news.

this was all just from Friday!

Yesterday we had our weekly Bible study with some of the girls that are still working and some that have left prostitution. They come to us because we provide jobs for them to make jewelry instead of selling their bodies. These girls need to know their value and that they have God given gifts and talents.. something that is a focus for us to remind them of who they are. My favorite part of this day, though, is when we all open the Bible together and read a chapter of the gospels. One of the girls that is still working in prostitutioneyes beam when we talk about Jesus.. and she is clearly wanting to know more about who this God is that we talk about. Please keep her in your prayers as i know God wants to bring her full revelation of what Jesus did for her on the cross and to receive Him as her Saviour. Her name is Paula (not her real name).

so that's just a few stories from this week. Tonight we will be visiting Virginia (not real name). We visit her every Wednesday night. She knows Jesus.. but needs prayer.. maybe strategy for my team and I as we all pile in to the room and listen as she shares stories of her week, not always positive ones and we sit there and listen because she doesn't have anyone else to share her heart with that she trusts. I know God wants to take her from this dark place, it's just a matter of her understanding that she can do something else with her life. Please pray for my team tonight. Blessings!

this is my joy

i love what i get to do.

as i was sitting there.. crammed in a small room in the basement of our building (the lighthouse) in the middle of the red light district.. i smiled

i smiled because i had 4 Hungarian girls to the left of me ... and 4 Spanish girls on the right...

i smiled because they were eager to hear what i had to say and were willing to listen.. not because I was speaking.. but because of the message we came to bring.. "Jesus was the only perfect human.. He is the hero.. He is the one that takes our burdens" hmm it's as simple as that. i guess sin makes that message complicated.

Some of these girls are still in prostitution and some of them have left the job... my job isn't to make sure they leave prostitution.. my job is to love them where they are at.. pray they leave the work.. provide jobs for the ones that want to leave the job.. speak truth into their lives.. tell them about Jesus.. make disciples.

God knows exactly what these girls need..."Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her...go from now on and sin no more" -John 8:7,10

although we might not understand each other fully with words, our hearts understand each other. I am constantly reminded that it is His kindness that leads us to repentance.

i will be leading a Spanish Bible study tomorrow with some of the girls still working in the windows.. they are so ready to receive that they come even though i am not fluent! Please keep my team and I in your prayers (:

Back in the Red Light District.

It has been a few months since I have been back here and I am seeing things with fresh new eyes as well as being excited with what is going to happen in the coming weeks.

Honestly, I have been so pumped to come back with renewed energy and encouragement from people in Kansas City who are on fire for the Lord. They are burning to see His name proclaimed in the nations, to the broken, and even to the lost in their own community. I lived with the most hospitable women I have ever come in contact with (Barb Schmitz you are an angel from heaven above) and on my flight on my way here I sat next to the most inspiring guy I have ever sat next to on a plane!

All of these individuals have charged me with fresh vision and tenacity to move forward with what God has spoken over me and gifted me in in this upcoming season!

The word that comes to mind is stewardship. As I was flying over the Atlantic Ocean, I was chatting away with the guy sitting next to me about what I do. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. He said to me, "Really? That is really what you do? I bet if you asked every single person on this plane what they did, it wouldn't come close to as rad as the work you are doing.. it just wouldn't happen." I laughed at the thought and then it struck me.. oh yeah.. my job isn't that normal. And I guess when you tell someone "I work with potential victims of sex trafficking," the conversation doesn't really end there.

I didn't set New Years resolution's on a piece of paper this year--I set them on my heart. It is the awakening of my spirit to begin to recognize the gifts and talents I was born with but just failed to notice. It is loving and respecting myself because every one of us should know the best way to care for ourselves and steward what we have been given. Whether that is creative ideas to do something out of the norm, to cultivate and build relationships with your community, to love and see the best in people, to choose to not walk in an offendable heart, or all of the above--I want to steward it and steward it well!

nations on the mind.

the nations are constantly on my mind. when i am not out in them, my brain is constantly getting distracted by thinking about them. Two nations have been at the forefront as of late, Brazil and Holland. Today Brazil has been the primary occupation and found myself looking at different organizations and websites that are caring for orphans, prostitutes and those living on the streets.

I not only found a few amazing organizations but i did stumble upon a bit of history and a quite remarkable building in Recife, Brazil.. The Santa Isabel Theatre. It was in this theatre that Joaquim Nabuco made his case for the abolition of slavery in Brazil which was a suiting place since the Theatre was built without the use of slaves (a rare thing in the mid 1800's).

we can learn from past world changers to bring forth change in the future.

here are a few organisations doing something in Brazil-

http://www.happychild.org/ -they rescue street and at risk children from situations of personal and social risk in the large southern city of Belo Horizonte and Northeastern city of Recife. Happy Child is regarded as one of the leading and most experienced Christian charities in Brazil working with these children. It has helped to reintegrate thousands of children back into society.

http://shoresofgrace.com/en/ -Their focus is setting those in prostitution and abuse free and walking them through restoration. Their goal is to reveal the Father God to people in everything they do as Jesus did when He walked the earth.

http://exoduscry.com/ - A prayer movement to end slavery. Their focus this year is Brazil as it leads up to the World Cup where Trafficking and crime rates rise, they have focused prayer for this country for this year specifically.

the power of prayer is not something to be ignored but that we can be alive and active in at anytime and anywhere. i am guilty of not engaging as much as i would like to in prayer because it is a choice that is constantly needing to be made but when i remember and engage.. it is like my Spirit is revived saying "this is what you were made to do.. to intercede for the nations of the world.. your prayers are changing things right now.. and moving angels with your prayers into position.. greater is He that is in you, than He that is in the world"

Lord, i lift up Brazil where trafficking is happening in dark corners... i ask for you to shed light on those places right now.. in the midst of this wicked generation, i ask for you to bring your beauty and love to Brazil specifically the cities of Belo Horizonte, Recife and Fortaleza. You, Lord, are bringing things to pass this year and i ask for you to send out your light over these cities.. where trafficking is being exposed.. i ask for you to expose it right now...i ask for you to raise up Joaquim Nabuco's in this generation.. people in power and influence that advocate and bring change in Brazil in the government. i ask for areas that represent freedom like The Santa Isabel Theatre would be tangible reminders of what you have intended for these cities to be. i pray that these cities would have your sons and daughters crying out on behalf of the land.. whose faces are radiant and whose lives are living sacrifices and pure.. lives transformed.. who are like your son.. representations of hope and destiny to those in these cities..that your fragrance would be carried through these cities and spread throughout to the orphans, the prostitutes.. that they would understand the reality of your love for them and walk in incredible freedom. In Jesus name, Amen

The Santa Isabel Theatre. It was here that Brazil won the cause for the abolition of slavery

the simple life

i have been home now for a month exactly! the first few weeks were focused on helping my sister with her wedding as it was at my parent's house and there was crazy work that needed to get done. The positive side to having a wedding in the yard, is my parent's were able to get the house painted, the landscape done, and a cement pathway to wrap around the house to the side porch. Which are all the things they had wanted to do for so long and finally had a reason and a due date to finish it. The house looks awesome (except the room i am staying in which still has wallpaper from the 1970's.. on the bright side, it has made a full circle into being "vintage" slash "hipster")

So life at home is pretty simplistic now that the wedding has come and gone. Living in the country with no car has its challenges.. like not being able to get out of the house and socialize with people besides my family. I love my family don't get me wrong, but i find myself in situations like having to "watch" my senile dog all day who is old and decripid (is that how it is spelled?). She likes to sit right at your feet which is fine... until she farts. She also now has this problem with her back hips.. and when she poops.. she doesn't have the strength to pinch the poop out... resulting in me today stepping on some leftovers on the floor and gagging all the way down the hall as i cleaned my foot and the carpet.. so disgusting. i love her. really i do.. but she has butt problems. see this is what happens when i don't get out of the house. i start talking about my dogs issues. ugh

moving on... so this morning i woke up bright eyed at 6am.. which is very unusual for me.. (not a morning person) God was obviously waking me up..excited to spend the day with me!! so i listened to the ihop (international house of prayer) webstream and opened the WORD which washed over me like.. well..I cant even compare it to anything! i got this fiery burden for the issue of human trafficking that He laid on my heart which resulted in me updating my facebook status to this:

"Do you know why I love praying and advocating against human trafficking?

Because in every generation there is abuse of human beings.. And stories we hear of the generations before us... where good men stood by and did nothing...and those that did changed history...I want to join the voices of those that say "we see you.. And we will help you.. You are a human being.. And you should be treated as such"

I have been given the opportunity to be apart of change in my generation just by the simple fact that I have been born into it.

In my generation of those in captivity I'm not going to ignore their cries for help or be ignorant that this is happening across the globe.

I want to be apart of the group that says this is not okay.. I will not put up with it today.. And I will be one to set my life apart on behalf of those abused and enslaved.

This isn't the Civil War.. This isnt WWII.. This isn't the Rwanda Genocide.. This is today and its happening right now.. I will join those that are doing something about it..Those that say this is not okay.. Those that are praying.
I love this generation because i have seen friends and strangers join together and say what can we do to change it..

Today I am choosing to fight back through love.. Through speaking out truth.. Through prayer.. Yes today is going to be a good day."

It came from the depths of my being that yearns for change in this generation. I then spent the rest of my morning and half of the afternoon in prayer and worship.. It truly is the best place to be. He also gave me the idea to begin to make drawings to fundraise during my time at home. I began working on one and 5 hours later came up with this...

more to come.... :)

Hope for the Future.

I am excited to share that I will be working in the RED LIGHT DISTRICT with victims of sex trafficking! i wanted to share in this work with others.. through sharing stories.. prayers... and support!

Preparation-
I am in a transition period to prepare to work in the RLD for 2 years. part of that preparation is getting others involved.. to seek God's heart in how He wants you to be involved. He has spoken to me already on how to be involved .. He may be speaking to you as well? a possible opportunity to be apart of something that has eternal value and lasting results in an area that is finally being exposed and highlighted to the world as an injustice- HUMAN TRAFFICKING.

Investment
MONTHLY COMMITTED GIVERS. would you like to be one of the 28 people who can give $50 a month or 14 people who can give $100 a month?

i am also looking for those to partner with me in prayers! PRAYER. the great thing about prayer is that we can do it anytime...anywhere... and with anyone.  the women in the RLD need your prayers..the men need your prayers.. i need your prayers!

Monthly Need Layout-
Accommodation- $400
Clothing and Toiletries- $100
Food- $200
Ministry expenses- $160
Tithing-$140
Travel (saving for upcoming flight and travel expenses)- $400
Total = $1400

$1400 is the number the Lord gave me to begin to raise for monthly support. However, if i am not able to reach my goal.. I will still be going as i have still gone in the past with as little as getting by with sometimes $100 a month. God provides in the craziest of ways but I don't want to do this alone...I need you! This broken world needs amazing people like you to be apart of changing it through simple acts of love like encouraging missionaries and monthly giving. it is so simple and yet brings incredible LIFE and CHANGE and BLESSING!

Sowing-
It dawned on me the other day when i heard the analogy of instead of buying a Starbucks drink you can give to a missionary. we all know that but i know it goes deeper. you buy a Starbucks drink and you drink it. awesome. it kinda ends there.. the drink didn't necessarily have any lasting fruit from drinking it...though it did taste great! However, you instead choose to use that money on Kingdom investments, (ex. on Human Trafficking work, on darkness finally being exposed in the light, on Prostitutes finding Jesus and getting saved.) That sounds like seeds are being sown. That sounds like lives are being transformed.. that sounds like ETERNAL INVESTMENT.

Personal struggle-
For me personally, it seems so attractive to go get a job and provide for myself and not expose my need. However, that is not what He is calling me into. He says Liz, what you are doing has eternal investment and eternal rewards.. so keep on doing it,, keep on PRAYING, keep on ADVOCATING, keep on EXPOSING, keep on DOING! It's not easy, but then again neither was Him dying on the cross for us. He will receive the reward of His sufferings!

What do you receive in return?
If you are a monthly giver, you will receive prayers from me, personal monthly encouragements, postcards and follow up of what God has been doing through my blog! oh and of course, ETERNAL REWARD... which is the greatest!
